Ever wonder what they do with the cars, trucks, motorcycles, boats, planes, homes and other goodies that they seize from drug dealers and people delinquent on their taxes? Well the Department of the Treasury Internal Revenue Service auctions them off. Each year approximately 300 public auctions are conducted throughout the U.S. and Puerto Rico to sell property forfeited as a result of violations of federal law enforced by the Department of the Treasury or nonpayment of Internal Revenue Service taxes. You can go to their site and sign up for automatic emails that notify you “Notice of Public Auction Sale” whenever an auction is coming up. They list pictures, descriptions and locations for the auctions. You can even mail in a bid. Check it out.
