It’s Thursday, Oct. 1, at the Sunset Sound recording studio in Los Angeles. Janis Joplin asks producer Paul Rothchild to roll tape, just 2 days before her death, and history was made.
Even though she drove a Porsche shown here – A 1965 Porsche 356c Cabriolet. Painted by one of her roadies, Dave Roberts, who gave it a psychedelic face lift. It took Roberts a month to complete the paint job and titled it “The History of the Universe.” The car became one of the most recognizable vehicles in the San Francisco area back in 1968.
